The prospect of seeing their favorite athletes play their finest shots on the course excites fans to the hilt. With some of the top players in the world vying for the title, it will be a rather tough battle, though. The competition will include Matt Fitzpatrick, the reigning champion, who is returning to defend his title.
Fitzpatrick won last year’s US Open by 1 stroke and defeated Will Zalatoris and Masters champion Scottie Scheffler. This was his first major title. He reportedly won $3.15 million for his iconic win. “The feeling’s out of this world,” Fitzpatrick said. “It is so clich?, but it’s stuff you dream of as a kid. Yeah, to achieve it, I can retire a happy man tomorrow.”
Other golfers to look out for at the third major of the year
This event will feature 2015 U.S. Open winner Jordan Spieth, who has shown consistent iron play and came fifth at the Memorial Tournament this year. Rory McIlroy will also be competing to the best of his ability to end a major championship drought that has lasted almost nine years. Jon Rahm, the champion of the 2018 Master Tournament, will also be on hand. Scottie Scheffler, the top-ranked golfer in the world, will also raise the level of competition.

Phil Mickelson will also demonstrate to his rivals why he is one of the top golfers in the world. Victor Hovland, a rising star and Memorial Tournament champion can be a fierce opponent on the field.
This field will also include Max Homa, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Smith, and Patrick Cantlay. Unfortunately, Tiger Woods will not be able to play because of his health issues.
