Havoc was wreaked on the golfers when they decided to play for LIV Golf. The PGA Tour banned the defectors from competing in any of its events, but players were relieved when they were allowed to play in the major tournaments if they were eligible. But despite that good news, there were setbacks! The most recent came with Sergio Garcia not qualifying for the 2023 PGA Championship field. However, with that major now behind us, the fans are looking ahead to the next big event, the US Open.

Gracia’s fans were heartbroken when the golfer could not compete at Oak Hill last week. But now with the latest news of his redemption that’s resurfaced, it seems like they have reason to celebrate once more!

Sergio Garcia finds redemption after his major setback

Last week, the Spanish golfer was missing from the 156-player field in New York because of a dip in his OWGR ratings, thanks to LIV events not yet being eligible for ranking points. Not competing at the PGA Championship was a major setback in the golfer’s career. After all, this was the first time since 1999 that he had failed to qualify for a major! However, now he’s looking ahead to the next major.

Just recently, reports began floating that Garcia would be competing in the qualifier for the US Open scheduled for May 22nd. And now, the golfer himself has informed the fans that he has qualified for the forthcoming major tournament. Taking to Twitter, he posted, “24th Consecutive,” giving his fans a reason to celebrate following their disappointment at the PGA Championship.

News of his qualification was quick to spread. One of LIV’s fan pages, LIV Golf GO, shared the delightful news with a picture of Garcia jumping in jubilation and wrote, Sergio Garcia has qualified for the @usopengolf Go lift the trophy, Sergio!” 

The good news garnered immense attention from the fans, hitting the Spanish golf great’s loyal followers differently. After weeks of disappointment, their world had now once again been overturned!

Fans react to Garcia’s delightful news

Fans flooded the Twitter post, congratulating the 2017 Masters winner and wishing him luck for the US Open. After all, it was indeed a big moment for him! Let us look at what some in the golf world had to say.

The 43-year-old received a lot of good wishes. Fan additionally sang “legend” chants while congratulating him!

One fan added that he was willing to bet money on Garcia’s victory in June.

They further brightened the Spaniards day with a positive boost.

One fan claimed that it is hard to keep players like Garcia out of the majors, while another suggested he was going to win the event.
