On 14th May, the LPGA Tour will wrap up the 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup. The scorecard is being led by Minjee Lee with -12 at Upper Montclair Country Club. Where on one side, a few players are having incredible stroke play, on the other end, some of the professionals are struggling with the game.

Among them, the ‘Pink Panther’ has been fighting her own battles on the field. It is not unlikely for a competitive sport like golf to take a toll on athletes which often leads to extreme results. One such occurrence took place amidst all the on-field drama and action in New Jersey. The American golfer shared an unfortunate announcement.

Saturday morning presented the golf world with a disappointing statement. The LPGA Tour golfer Paula Creamer, took to Twitter to announce her withdrawal from the 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup. She wrote, “Unfortunately I had to withdraw from the tournament this week.

The 36-year-old shared that the reason for her discontinuation was her health issues. She added, “My body did not want to cooperate with me on Thursday. I tried to play through it but just couldn’t.” The star had just participated in the first round of the event when she couldn’t continue her game.

The golfer continued the tweet by thanking all the volunteers for being gracious. She ended the message with a strong ‘See you next year @lpgafounders‘ for her followers. Creamer was not the only American to withdraw from the 2023 Founders Cup. Other players who couldn’t complete the tournament included Lindsey Weaver-Wright and Jessica Korda.

Injuries and withdrawals are not new for Paula Creamer

The new season of the Founders Cup did not bring much change in the fate for Paula Creamer. The 2010 U.S. Women’s Open champion faced a similar disheartening end at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup.

In the year previous to that the 10-time LPGA Tour winner had struggled in establishing a single top 10 after coming back from wrist surgery. The player had formerly suffered from serious wrist pain which had resulted in her withdrawing from the Evian Championship in 2017.
