Last year, the European team played without Sergio Garcia, who resigned from the DP World Tour in May 2023. The arbitration panel found that it was in favor of the DP World Tour. Players who competed in LIV Golf events without permission will have to pay a fine or get banned from the tournament. But now, with the latest update from Luke Donald about their conversation, it is looking in favor of Sergio Garcia.

When asked about the situation of Garcia, the Englishman replied, saying, “Obviously he resigned his membership but we have had some chats.” He also said Garcia would be considering rejoining. But will he be paying the fines and agreeing to the suspension for rejoining? Building on to the last conversation between the two players, Donald shared, “We chatted on the phone a couple of weeks ago. He’s certainly very interested in doing that. He understands everything that’s involved and the decision has to go to him, whether he’s prepared to do all that.”

It seems that the captain has played his part in advising Garcia about his rejoining the team at the DP World Tour. Apart from that, the 44-year-old will have to retake the membership in terms of the European Tour. For that, Garcia will have to pay a $1 million fine and a limited-time suspension. However, the good news for the fans is Garcia, just after the November 17 deadline, has cleared all the fines for participation at the LIV Golf events, as per the latest updates shared by GolfDigest.
