The hot mic is turning ‘hotter’ at the LIV Golf Las Vegas. After Jon Rahm kicked off the NSFW rant at Mayakoba, his teammate Tyrrell Hatton picked up the thread. Hatton was extremely frustrated after missing his birdie putt on the 17th. The British Pro, in his characteristic way, didn’t hold back, turning the air blue.

Naturally, the clip went viral on the Internet. But netizens don’t feel any sympathy for the former PGA Tour pro. Rather, they feel Hatton should’ve kept his expectations lower after switching to LIV Golf.

Tyrrell Hatton is angry and can’t hide it

Hatton’s putt veered slightly right, throwing cold water on his birdie chance. “So many times…” cried out the LIV Golf Pro, “F__k these greens.” The commentator quipped, “Mr. Angry strikes again.” The one-time PGA Tour winner eventually tied for the 12th spot at 6-under, 134. A birdie would’ve moved him to the 8th spot.

Interestingly, Jon Rahm, too, was visibly frustrated after missing his birdie putt at the very same greens. The Spaniard’s ball stopped a few inches short of where he anticipated. Crying out in anguish, Rahm threw his arms in the air. “How is that f****** possible, man?!

Cursing was a topic of discussion in Legion XIII’s first LIV press conference. Hearing that LIV fines players for profanity, both Rahm and Hatton were a little taken aback. It’s good for them that the PIF-funded side actually doesn’t. On the contrary, they seemed to have capitalized on that as a means of entertainment, pulling in more crowds. Fans, though, couldn’t care less about Hatton’s frustrations.

Netizens scoff at the Britsh Pro

The 2023 Ryder Cup winner’s anger stemmed from the ‘underperforming’ greens. In fact, that was Jon Rahm’s point as well. Netizens, though, don’t share their anguish. Rather, they doubled down on Hatton for expecting more from LIV Golf.

One user pointed out that Hatton should’ve known better before defecting. They believe that the courses on LIV Golf are not as good as those on the PGA Tour.

Another fan also felt Tyrrell Hatton shouldn’t be complaining. The sentiments appear to be similar in that the greens in the PIF-funded league are of subpar (no pun intended) quality.

LIV Golf’s 54-hole, no-cut format has not resonated with fans. This user weaponized that to dismiss LIV events as worthless.

Another user, too, used the no-cut format to take a dig at the British Pro. Many still believe that the LIV tournaments lack a competitive edge.

Some of them felt it was not worth ranting about. However, missing a close putt is always frustrating. Ask Justin Thomas. The two-time Major champion was anguished after being forced to rewatch his ball lipping out of the hole.

Some of them were more critical of LIV Golf’s popularity, which they believe is nonexistent. Notably, LIV Mayakoba received the highest viewership last Sunday, but they didn’t have to face competition from either the PGA Tour or the NFL.

The ‘hot mic’ experience for LIV Golf has yielded mixed results. While it gives a glimpse of what pro golfers were thinking before a shot, it also has the chance of landing players in the crosshairs of fans, as Tyrrell Hatton’s case shows.
