If you ask who the happiest person on LIV Golf is presently, many would mention Tyrrell Hatton, and for obvious reasons. He emerged victorious at the Nashville event while beating the talented 53-man field. Moreover, his squad, Legion XII GC led by Jon Rahm, also won the team event. However, it’s not all roses and sunshine for the English golfer and his team!

The champ was spotted in an interview after his recent victory at LIV Golf Nashville which was held at The Grove. Hatton mentioned how the team is trying to figure everything out after highlighting the situations that need some getting used to while dubbing it as nothing short of “awkward.”

“I think we are all still kind of working our way through it,” confessed the LIV Golf Pro honestly in the press conference. He was queried on how long it took to get comfortable with the environment at the Saudi-backed league. Hatton divulged how it would be a bit uncomfortable during warm-up; “When you want to be on the range, sometimes it can be a little bit awkward with the space, and trying to just figure out how to be ready to go.” The events having a shotgun start cause all the golfers to warm up on the range at the same time, causing much discomfort.

That’s not all. Just like how it is a bit awkward before the start of the tournament, one should also keep their pace for the event since it boasts only three rounds. “You have to get off to a decent start,” added the Englishman, “You know, the standard of golf out here, it doesn’t really allow you to be slow out of the blocks, to be honest, otherwise you’re always playing catch up.”

He was also extremely grateful for how he started off the event as he said, “Thankfully for me this week, it was my week that I started off pretty quick and managed to keep going. Yeah, I think we are all sort of trying to figure it out still but that’s the fun part.” The golfer had, interestingly, finished the first day of play at T1 with a score of 6 under 65.

He followed the same with two more scintillating rounds of golf with a 7-under 64 and another 65 (-6) on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Apart from the 8 birdies he carded on Friday, the 1-time PGA Tour champ scored 15 more birdies while carding just 2 bogeys on the final two days of play. He was, thus, able to put up figures of 19-under while raking in $4 million as the winner’s cut.

The Legion XIII GC, however, didn’t let the “awkward” situation get to them. They won the team event at the LIV Golf tournament in Nashville, despite the not-so-comfortable position that the team has found itself in. And it was all thanks to the skipper and the champ who spearheaded their attack at the contest.

The team, led by Rahm, managed to beat the likes of Crushers GC and Torque GC, the former of whom was led by the 2024 U.S. Open champ Bryson DeChambeau. The figures that the Spaniard put up on the first day combined with Caleb Surratt’s and Hatton’s scores on the same round helped the team card an 8-under on Friday. For the rest of the two rounds, Kieran Vincent’s scores of 5-under and 1-under were also added to help the team reach a whopping 40-under.

The triumph at Nashville marks the team’s third win, the last two of which came in Mayakoba and Miami. The squad including Tyrrell Hatton, as a result, is currently placed at T2 with a total of 128 points while DeChambeau’s Crushers GC occupies the top spot. They would surely hope to shoot past the ‘Scientist’s’ team with the remaining events of the season. And the fans would, without a doubt, be looking forward to the same.
