After leaving Jeddah, LIV Golf turned further east to stop at Hong Kong. It’s the upstart league’s first foray into the island nation, but LIV golfers are familiar with the course. A handful of LIV Golf Pros, including Cameron Smith, Harold Varner III, Peter Uihlein, and Talor Gooch, teed off at the Hong Kong Open in November. The event will have the largest purse in the history of Hong Kong golf.

54 professional players will compete for a payout from the $25 million purse. As the tournament heads to its final round, here is how much each player will earn at LIV Golf Hong Kong.

The LIV Golf Hong Kong individual competition follows the same $20 million purse size as the previous events. The winner at Fanling Golf Course will pocket $4 million, while the winning team will take $3 million from the $5 million earmarked for the team championship. But there is more than money at stake during the event.

Interestingly, the LIV Golf Hong Kong takes place at the same time as the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour. But the money on offer in Hong Kong this week is also far higher than the PGA Tour event this week, the Puerto Rico Open, which has a $4m prize fund. It also dwarfs the money on offer at the Jonsson Workwear Open on the DP World Tour, which has a purse of $1.5m.

Here is the full breakdown of money on offer at the LIV Golf Hong Kong tournament.

Apart from a substantial, there are important points, perks, and benefits on the line, especially for the tournament winner. The winner of this event will get LIV Golf points toward the year-end bonus pool.

However, there are no Official World Golf Ranking points on the line for the winner. Earlier this week LIV announced that it would drop its bid to receive points from the Official World Golf Ranking.

There have been calls to increase the share of team prizes, considering that LIV has stuck to the team format as the identity marker of its fledgling product. Nevertheless, so far, the PIF-backed league has maintained the same purse size as last year. The runner-up team will bag $1,500,000, while the third-place finisher will pocket $500,000.

The playing field will see the likes of Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and others in action, but there is a surprise name in lead heading to the final day.

Who is leading the charge at Fanling?

Abraham Ancer scorched down Fanling, knocking down eight birdies in a bogey-free second round. The Mexican international carded 8-under-62 to separate himself from the pack. He led the charge on the final day with a 5-shot lead ahead of Harold Varner III, who posted a 4-under 66. Varner III is tied with Ancer’s Fireballs teammate, Eugenio Chacarra, for the second spot.

Three team captains, Jon Rahm (Legion XIII), Cameron Smith (Ripper GC), and Henrik Stenson (co-captain of the Majesticks GC), share the fourth spot on the leaderboard. Last week’s champion, Joaquin Niemann, is a 10-shot behind Ancer. The Chilean international has already picked up two titles this season, the second of which seems to justify his Masters invite further

Anthony Kim showed signs of improvement in his second competitive outing in 12 years. The 38-year-old picked up four birdies in addition to carding four bogeys and a double bogey, eventually stopping at 2-over 72. Kim is tied for 52nd along with Phil Mickelson, who is playing his first competitive match at Fanling. Interestingly, Kim has committed to the Asian Tour International Series in Macau next month, along with 20 of his LIV colleagues.

On the other side, Fireballs GC, resting on Ancer, David Puig, and Sergio Garcia’s performances—both of them carded 4-under 66, the same as Chacarra—is on top of the team leaderboard. Smith’s Ripper GC sits three points behind them at 25-under. LIV Golf Jeddah champion Crushers GC is fourth.
