Genesis Invitational, the first of the three player-hosted Signature events, will tee off on February 15. Tiger Woods will play on sponsor exemption as the host of the tournament. The field boasts 22 from the top 24 in the OWGR. That means Jon Rahm. and his Legion XIII teammate, Tyrrell Hatton, will be the only notable absentees from the top 24.
Genesis Invitational, unlike the first three Signature events, will have a 36-hole cut with the top 50 players and ties and any player within ten shots of the leader progressing to the final two rounds. Along with Woods, 14 past major champions will headline the field, including the reigning US Open Champion Wyndham Clark, and the defending Open champion, Brian Harman. Let’s look at the tee times and pairings ahead of the event.

Stars to watch out at the Riviera Country Club
Tiger Woods will obviously garner the limelight. Woods is making his first official PGA Tour entry since limping out of the Masters last year. The former World No. 1 has played at the 2023 Hero World Challenge finishing 18th in the 20-man field carding an even-par 288. The 49-year-old was bombing 300 yards drive – he looked all jacked up – but on Strokes Gained, the 15-time Major winner was lagging far behind in the field.

Justin Thomas, thanks to his spectacular consistency over the first three events that kept him within the top 30 in OWGR, will be back at the greens after a T12 in the WM Phoenix Open. Thomas has three top-ten finishes from his nine outings at Riviera, including a runner-up finish in 2019.
Scottie Scheffler, who has improved his short game by a notch, will come to Riviera after missing on a three-peat at the WM Phoenix Open. The PGA Tour Player of the Year has three top-ten finishes this year from his four outings. Scheffler is ranked 9th in SG: Off the Tee and 2nd in SG: Approach to the Green.

Did we also tell you that the 26-year-old has upped his short game? It should be a cause of concern if the best ballplayer on the field is also doubling down on putting. Genesis Invitational will have a purse of $20M with $4M reserved for the winner, in addition to 700 FedEx Cup points.
