The PGA Tour’s west coast swing continues with the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Among familiar names, Rickie Fowler skipped the tournament, and so has Justin Thomas. Tiger Woods, who stomped the greens of Torrey Pines for the better part of the 2000s—Woods won the Farmers Insurance Open three consecutive times between 2006 and 2008—will also give this a miss.

Surprisingly, Nick Dunlap, who recently bagged his first PGA Tour victory at the American Express, a first for an amateur since Phil Mickelson won at the Northern Telecom Open in 1991, dropped out of the field as well. Nevertheless, the full field boasts 12 major champions and 12 of the top 30 from OWGR, including the defending champion, Max Homa.

Xander Schauffele, after bagging two top-ten finishes in his many outings, comes to Torrey Pines looking for his first victory this season. The World No. 5 will wake up at 1.40 p.m. ET. His best buddy on and off the course, Patrick Cantlay, will move to the 10th tee at 12.12 PM ET. Cantlay, after starting this year with a stellar performance in Hawaii, slipped to 52nd place in the recently concluded American Express.

Joining his Ryder Cup teammates will be Collin Morikawa in his first outing after the Sentry, where the 26-year-old grabbed fifth place on the leaderboard. The six-time PGA Tour winner will tee up at 12.12. PM ET. This year’s Ryder Cup hero and last year’s champion, Max Homa, will step on the greens at 1.40 PM ET. At the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, the 33-year-old triumphed over Keegan Bradley for a two-shot victory to net his sixth PGA Tour title.

Bradley, 37, will also return to Torrey Pines this year. 2022 champion Luke List is in the 152-man field as well. Former world No. 1 Jason Day and British Pro Justin Rose are also two of the past champions to return this year. Check the tee times and pairings for the first round of the event.

Round One Tee times and pairings

The Farmers Insurance Open tees off on Wednesday to avoid a clash with NFL Conference Championship games between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers vs. Detroit Lions. This is the third time Farmers Insurance Open went through a schedule change to avoid a clash with the football behemoth. The North and South will host the first two rounds alternatively, while the final two rounds will move to the South Course exclusively.
