The anticipation of challenging conditions raises concerns about the potential for delays, which affects the overall rhythm and excitement of the tournament’s conclusion. The primary focus for the final round undoubtedly involves the partly cloudy weather, considering that darkness has regrettably led to unfavorable circumstances since the start of the event.

With low chances of rain ranging from 0% to 25% throughout the day, so far the condition seems to be favorable. At 8 am, there are chances that stray passing shower will be there. However, that still does not seem to be the biggest concern. Located in the coastal area, wind also plays a significant factor at the Puerto Rico Open.

The round 4 forecast suggests variation in wind speed, with fluctuations between 8 and 16 mph. The conditions of the wind may pose a challenge, impacting the trajectory of golf balls. As the day will progress, the escalating wind may add some extra complexity for pros, especially for those with tee times from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Since Puerto Rico enjoys warm, sunny, and humid days most of the year, the variation in temperature seems comfortable and within a suitable range, but humidity will be something that needs to be watched out for. The evolving weather plays a significant role in the strategy of pros as well, as they have to switch their gameplay accordingly.

With the 2024 Puerto Rico Open nearing its end, it has not been all good this year. The first three rounds had experienced quite a few challenges in terms of weather.

Challenges faced in Puerto Rico since the opening round

The opening round experienced a delay of 1 hour and 55 minutes, with players initially positioned at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande. But the pros were subsequently relocated due to worsening conditions. The second round of the event encountered a comparable challenge. Due to the darkness, the round was halted at 6:33 p.m. on Friday. Several pros had to tee off for their second round at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
