After the conclusion of the second round of LIV Golf Singapore, heightened interest arose in the pairings for the third round, especially considering the intriguing leaderboard. Brooks Koepka, currently leading with a total of 12 under par, is just 3 strokes ahead of Matthew Wolff, who sits at T2 with 9 under par.
The score raised intrigue as to whether Koepka and Wolff would be paired together, considering their history from 2022. The five-time major champion felt that Wolff was not making the most of his talent. He told Golf Digest “I mean when you quit on your round, you give up and stuff like that; that’s not competing,” Koepka further added, “I’m not a big fan of that. You don’t work hard.”
No matter how comfortable or uncomfortable it would have been for the two to play together, they are not paired together for the final round. Brooks Koepka tees off at 8:16 AM with Adrian Meronk and Thomas Pieters. Wolff’s group has Cameron Tringale and March Leishman, and they will start at 8:05 AM, the standard shotgun start time.

Starting his career, Wolff won a PGA Tour event at 19, reaching the 13th spot in the world rankings. After joining the Saudi-backed circuit, Brooks Koepka singled out Wolff. Koepka referred to Wolff as a wasted talent. He also said that he had given up on him. Koepka even mentioned that there were just three guys, including himself, his brother, Chase Koepka, and Jason Kokrak, on his team. This happened before the young golfer was traded from Smash GC. Upon learning that his captain had said such things about him, Wolff was hurt.
With Wolff now continuing his journey with RangeGoats, the captain of Smash GC has shared some sentiments following the conclusion of the second round at Sentosa GC.
What does Brooks Koepka have to say about Matthew Wolff?
When asked about Wolff in the post-round press conference, Koepka seemed to have a change of heart. The 34-year-old began with, “Yeah, look, I have no problem with Matt.” He further highlighted the incident from the past, stating, “We just didn’t gel, see eye to eye on how things were or how I thought they should be.”

While Koepka acknowledged the divergence in opinions, it appears that the 34-year-old harbors no ill will towards Wolff at present. This sentiment of the golfer was further emphasized as he disclosed, “I’ve always liked him as a person. I think he’s a great kid. I’ve said that to a bunch of people, even behind closed doors, during everything last year.”
Lastly, the American pro admitted, “It was a good thing for him to leave the team and go to the RangeGoats, and it was a good thing for our team.” Further stating “Look, he’s fine. He seems to be playing better, in a better head space, better form, better everything”. After the pro revealed his thoughts, it’s clear that although Koepka remembers the past, he respects Matthew Wolff’s choice to switch teams.
