“I’m excited for this amazing opportunity,” said a nervous, albeit exhilarated Paige Spiranac on her X handle. She was alluding to the 2024 Creator Classic that will soon tee off at the East Lake Golf Club on August 28 ahead of the FedEx Cup season finale, the TOUR Championship. And with the event just around the corner, the question naturally arises: What is the format of the contest that will see 16 content creators duke it out on the course?

As per the official PGA Tour announcement, the 2024 Creator Classic will witness 16 amateur athletes battling it out on the newly restored back nine of the East Lake Golf Club. Interestingly, the contest will feature four groups of four, with each group of athletes engaging in a foursome. And every golf star will tee off as an individual in a stroke play format.

The handicap system, surprisingly, will not be in effect at the nine-hole tournament. Consequently, no strokes will be awarded to any player owing to the same. When the event starts, each foursome will tee off their round at the par-4, 426-yard, 10th hole at the Golf Club in Atlanta. The golfers’s names, meanwhile, will be announced to the audience before they hit off their spheroids at the Creator Classic.

As the tournament progresses, the four groups will play holes 10 through 17, the latter being a par-4, 407-yard layout. After the eight holes are played, the four athletes with the lowest scores will be made to compete in a one-hole playoff at the par-5, 18th hole, which boasts 589 yards. The winner of the same will be crowned the champion of the inaugural Creator Classic.

But if the case arises such that there are ties for the four positions holding the lowest scores, then there will be a chip-off between the golfers. And the athletes who chip in closest to the hole will move on to the final playoff on the 18th, thereby determining the final four content creators who will duke it out for the title.

“I don’t normally play stroke play events,” confessed Spiranac at the beginning of August 2024, when she learned about the upcoming event. She said so while admitting her nervousness to play alongside the likes of Tyler Toney, Garrett Clark, Brad Dalke, Sean Walsh, Fat Perez, Roger Steele, Wesley Bryan, George Bryan, Micah Morris, Peter Finch, Luke Kwon, Aimee Cho, Mac Boucher, Gabby Golf Girl, and Mason Nutt.
