The rivalry between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson may have cooled off currently, but there was a time in their prime days when both stars went back and forth with unpleasant comments for each other. It was once revealed that Woods’ mother too had separate nicknames for her son’s biggest rival.

Though the duo share something of a bromance nowadays, both stars have publicly criticized each other plenty of times. But it’s no shocker since both golfers were at the pinnacle of the sport fighting for the throne.
Tiger Woods’ mother, Kutilda too got involved by slamming Mickelson with some fat jokes. Moreover, she loved doing it.
What nicknames did Tiger Woods’ mother have for Lefty?
In the HBO documentary “Tiger,” Thomas Bonk of the Los Angeles Times reports that Kultida once referred to Mickelson as “hefty”rather than “lefty.” Golf magazine’s Alan Shipnuck claims in the documentary that Kultida took the rivalry “personal” against him.

Shipnuck said, “Tida loved to make fun of Mickelson’s body.” The details were shared from an extract of Alan Shipnuck’s unofficial autobiography of Mickelson.

Kutilda Woods also referred to Mickelson as “the fat boy.” Despite all her statements, Mickelson stayed respectful towards her. However, the rivalry between both men remained heated up until recent years.
Woods used to look at Mickelson with “disdain”
Apart from the Mickelson’s nicknames, Woods’ HBO documentary also shared the details of what Woods thought of Lefty. Tiger Woods used to look at Phil Mickelson in “disdain” during the height of their rivalry.

Although Mickelson had comparable potential to Woods, Woods believed Mickelson didn’t put in enough effort and was out of shape for most of his career. Shipnuck shared insight on the HBO documentary.

“Tiger knew that Phil was the most naturally gifted player ever to hold a golf club,” Shipnuck said. “But Tiger looked at him with disdain. He couldn’t fathom having that much ability but not putting in the time to be great.”
Shipnuck further added, “Phil had about 20 extra pounds, and Tiger was looking more and more like Mr. Universe.” Most of Woods’ disdain with Mickelson had to do with Lefty’s physical appearance.

Despite their differences in past, it’s safe to say that both men have turned their hatred around.
