The woman’s LPGA is reaching its climax at the CME Group Tour Championship. The competition has maintained its intrigue considering the highly ranked roster and the lucrative purse for the event. But nothing will beat a Nelly Korda versus Lexi Thompson on the final day at the Tiburon, according to Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio host, Taylor Zarzour.

Radio host believes Korda vs Thompson is the perfect season finale

Speaking at the Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio, Zarzour believed a Sunday rivalry between two of the best golfers in the circuit would be a fine watch. “I know you can’t manufacture this, but if you can give me Nelly Korda versus Lexi Thompson to determine who wins the tournament, that is an LPGA dream,” he said.

The 36-year-old was also in support of people who were connected to the LPGA circuit, stating they were the ones to gain from the exciting matchup. “Like if you have any investment in the LPGA, you are like, thank you, Lord, this is as good as it gets,” he said.

Host believes Korda vs Thompson is great for public viewing

He pointed out that the popularity and marketability of the two golfers would put the event under the global spotlight. Thompson was a child prodigy who made her mark in women’s golf while winning a major championship at the age of 19. On the other hand, the younger of the Korda sisters is currently the World No. 1 in LPGA player standings.

“You got two American stars that are both phenomenal people and players, that are battling each other to win a tournament, and you have the number one ranking in the world on the line, at least for Korda, and she beats Lexi and wins the tournament and gets the ranking back,” Zarzour said.

But as we head to the latter stages of the CME Group Tour Championship, where do Korda and Thompson actually stand? Riding high after her Pelican Women’s Championship victory, Nelly is at the upper echelons of the standing with a score of 7-under par before Saturday’s play began. However, Thompson was reeling at T41 with a par score so far.
