Moreover, the prize money purse increased from $4.5 million in 2021 to $9 million in 2022. At the same time, the 2022 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner will take home a prize money share worth $1.35 million after the final round. There has been a 300 percent surge in the purse from 2014 when the reward was at $2.25 million.
Paul Knopp, KPMG US Chair and CEO also spoke about the surge in the prize money pool. She said, “The significantly increased purse size – along with top courses in major markets, network TV coverage, and advanced data and analytics capabilities provided via KPMG Performance Insights – are tangible examples of our commitment to elevate the world-class athletes on the LPGA Tour.” It will be interesting to see who will be able to win at the tough golf course, and at the same time, take home the incredible prize money purse.

I’ve said it before, LPGA is as exciting and has as much talent and competition as the PGA. Sponsors, associations and players need to step up and demand and ensure LPGA & PGA share the same money as equals period.

The LPGA needs another Annika who can dominate the game and who people want to come out and see like Tiger did for the Men’s game. That’s what will drive purses higher. It’s sad when you watch a women’s major and practically nobody is there.
