The season’s inaugural major championship is upon us. Considered to be one of the most prestigious events on the golf calendar, the Masters Tournament will be played at the iconic Augusta National Golf Club this week. The gossip around the golf community has been full of Masters predictions, with the tournament bringing together some of the best golfers on the planet.
The battle within the Masters Tournament
This year’s contest for the elusive Green Jacket won’t be an ordinary one. For the first time in a major since the inception of the LIV Golf Series, players from both sides of the faction will be playing on a common field.

The dramatic move follows Augusta National’s chairman, Fred Ridley’s decision to allow LIV golfers to participate in the major championship. It means the likes of Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson will be playing alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, with hostilities set to be at their peak.

However, the tournament is set to be one of the most open-ended editions in recent times. Bookies have failed to stake a claim at a winner as a plethora of players stand a chance to take home the green jacket.
But any Masters event without the mention of Tiger Woods is futile. The celebrated golfer scripted the sport’s biggest fairytale when he emerged victorious at the 2019 Masters Tournament. The win marked Woods’ fifth Green Jacket and his 15th major championship title.
His old mate, Phil Mickelson, is also making a return to the Augusta National for his 30th appearance in the tournament. The six-time major championship winner has won half of his major titles at the Masters, with wins in 2004, 2006, and 2010.
His arrival at the prestigious tournament has certainly raised eyebrows, with the veteran no longer associated with the PGA Tour. Mickelson made heads turn last year when he switched to the LIV Golf Series in an alleged multi-million dollar deal.
While the aura of triumph at the Masters is itself incredible, what are the other benefits of winning the green jacket?
