After an enthralling battle at the Honda LPGA Thailand last week, the LPGA tour moves to Singapore for this year’s HSBC Women’s World Championship. Dubbed ‘Asia’s Major’ due to the significance and field of the event, the HSBC Championship is offering a $1.8 million purse this season. But who will take home the biggest check at the iconic Sentosa Golf Club?
Star names at the HSBC Women’s World Championship
Like Thailand last week, the HSBC Women’s World Championship field is packed with the game’s biggest stars. Nine of the top 10 players in world rankings will be at the Sentosa Golf Club, with the only exception being Lexi Thompson, who was spotted at the Seminole Pro-member recently.

However, there are plenty of other big names on the field. Defending champion, Jin Young Ko’s last victory came here at the 2022 edition, where she secured victory by a margin of two strokes.
Since her breakthrough 2021 season, when she won five titles, the South Korean has endured a lean patch. But having finished tied at sixth last week, her hopes of defending the title must have been rekindled.
But who will win it based on the players’ recent form? American golfer, Lilia Vu, stunned the golf world with her victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand last week, claiming her debut title on the LPGA Tour. The 25-year-old’s victory came in the face of a strong field, something she’ll have to contend with again.
Like every year, a total of 66 players will be taking the field across the weekend, with no cuts at any stage. The event will be played at the Tanjong Course, which maintains a par of 72. The Sentosa club is considered a challenging setup, but it’ll add to its difficulties due to Singapore’s present climatic conditions.

For the unversed, the island of Singapore has received persistent rainfall for months, which has added to the woes of the tournament organizers. The pro-am event, which usually plays as a curtain-raiser for the main competition, was canceled due to heavy rainfall.
