According to the weather reports for the first round of the U.S. Open 2024, which is going to be held on Thursday, the temperature can go up to a maximum of 89F and can drop as low as 65F. The report also indicates that there is a 10% chance of rain.

With the fine temperature conditions, there is also a prediction of a low north-east breeze at a rate of 3-6 MPH. Thus, a low breeze and a slight chance of rain indicate that the first round will witness a partly cloudy day. Moreover, with the extreme UV index and high humidity (around 64%) predictions, this could be a problem for the players as well as the fans.

If the predicted conditions manifest as they are on Thursday, then there are high chances that the game will go smoothly with much less chance of rain. However, the high humidity and UV index can take a toll on everyone present on the golf course. Although there is a slight chance of thunderstorms and rain during the first round, the news of Jon Rahm’s sudden withdrawal from the U.S. Open due to a foot infection is a much bigger thunderstorm.

In an X post, Rahm broke the news with a heavy heart, stating, “After consulting with numerous doctors and my team, I have decided it is best for my long term health, to withdraw from this weeks U.S. Open Championship.”
