The opening round will commence with Chris Gotterup teeing off at 8:05 am ET. He will be the sole player competing individually, as the rest will be in pairs. Notably missing from the list is Rory McIlroy, who was initially part of the field. Following his heartbreak at Pinehurst, he narrowly missed his 5th major title by one stroke to Bryson DeChambeau. Thus, world number two has decided to take some time off from the course to focus on nursing his heart and mental health.

McIlroy shared the news via an Instagram Story where he wrote, “I am going to take a few away from the game to process everything and build myself back up for my defense of the Genesis Scottish Open and the Open at Royal Troon.”Anyway, despite the absence of the four-time major winner from the tournament, golf fans can still enjoy it as there are still going to be many other popular ones, such as Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, and Xander Schauffele. You can watch them play live or from home.

What about the TV schedules of the tournament’s initial rounds?

If you live in the United States, you will be able to enjoy live coverage of the initial rounds. Both rounds are going to be televised at the same time on respective days (Thursday and Friday). You need to tune in to either Peacock or the Golf Channel from 3 to 6 pm ET while relaxing on your couch.

If you want to witness the magic of your favorite golfers from the UK, then there’s good news for you as well. For the initial round, stick to Sky Sports Golf from 5 to 11 pm BST and for the Friday round, switch to Sky Sports Main Event for the same time.

Scottie Scheffler could not conquer Pinehurst No. 2 and ended the event at T41. Will the World number 1 find his way back on top of the leaderboard at the Connecticut greens? It remains to be seen.
