Consistent disruptions by nature have been a part of the 2024 Travelers Championship. There hasn’t been a single round that didn’t face the repercussions of bad weather, and the same is expected for the final round, supposed to take place on June 23, at least according to the weather reports.
There is a possibility of thunderstorms (24%) along with a 40% chance of precipitation at TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, Connecticut. Due to these persisting weather conditions, there have been some changes made to the final round’s tee times.
Recently, PGA Tour Communications shared a post on their official X handle (formerly known as Twitter), which revealed the tee times and pairings for the Sunday round. The caption put a line as a ‘note’; it said, “Without weather delays, play is scheduled to end at approximately 4 p.m. ET”. To battle the ongoing adverse weather and to finish the play on time, it is decided that except for the first two groups, which are groups of two, the rest will be trios. The round will begin with the pair of Adam Schenk and Peter Malnati, teeing off at 6:50 am ET.

The South Korean pro, Tom Kim, is leading the charge with a score of 18 under 192. He carded a whopping 19 birdies and just a single bogey. That too came in the third round. Just behind by a single stroke, at T2 are Akshay Bhatia and the world number one, Scottie Scheffler. The field of 70 players started competing for a huge purse of $20 million and soon we will know who is going to take the winner’s share.
What is the prize money breakdown for the Travelers Championship?
In the last signature event of the PGA Tour of this season, the winner will get a humongous sum of $3.6 million, which accounts for a whopping 18% of the total prize purse. Even the second- and third-position holders will be entitled to more than a million. The runner-up’s prize money is decided to be a huge $2.16 million (10.8% of the total sum) and the person who finishes third will get 6.8% of the prize money, which is $1.36 million. The Travelers Championship does not have a cut, which means even the person who finishes last will not go home empty-handed and will receive an amount of $38,500.

Talking about ties, they are quite common in golf. So, if two people finish tied for second place (T2), both golfers will be entitled to $1.76 million each, which is still a huge amount. Similarly, if there is a two-way finish at T3, both the position holders will get an amount of $1.16 million. Similarly, there are possibilities of three-way ties and more than three-way ties as well, and in such situations, the prize amount for that position will be divided accordingly as made clear by the PGA Tour on its official website.
Will Scottie Scheffler be able to win the winner’s amount? or will one of Tom Kim and Akshay Bhatia add one more PGA Tour win to their record?
