Imagine heading to the golf course to witness golfing magic, only to be struck by lightning! Well, that has proven true in the case of the 2024 Traveler’s Championship as the tournament has been constantly disrupted by nature. All three rounds were forced to make shifts in time due to the bad weather conditions. Now, the question arises: will similar weather persist for the final round at TPC River Highlands or not?
As per the reports, just like the first three rounds, the final round is not going to be spared by the weather gods either. Although the morning weather is predicted to be fine, with the temperature expected to rise as much as 98.6F and dip as low as 93.2F, and the probability of precipitation being 25% with high humidity (72%),
The concern begins with the afternoon weather, as the chances of precipitation are expected to increase by 15%, accompanied by a 24% possibility of thunderstorms. Humidity levels are expected to drop a little (62%). Since it’s the afternoon, a slight increase in the temperature is expected, with a maximum temperature of 102.2F and a minimum. temperature of 96.8F. Moreover, a slight southern breeze is expected to blow at a speed of 8 to 10 mph during the morning and the afternoon. During this time, the wind is expected to change direction and blow from south-southwest at a slight pace of 9 mph.

The PGA Tour tried to avoid the weather hassles, thus adjusting its timetable accordingly. They announced that Friday’s round would commence one hour earlier, at 7:05 am, to avoid the torrid weather conditions. Despite this change, the weather still forced a suspension and a three-hour delay in the second round, leaving 14 players unable to complete their rounds by the end of the day.
The third round faced a similar fate, as it too was suspended due to dangerous weather. To add to all the troubles, an unfortunate incident took place at the TPC River Highlands, where two people were struck by lightning during the Saturday round, as shared by NUCLR Golf on its official X handle (formerly Twitter). In the caption, it was further mentioned that although both were conscious, they had to be immediately taken to the hospital.
