The DP World Tour has reached Belgium to gear up for the first event of the European Swing! The Soudal Open is in its third edition after being renamed the Belgium Open. For 18 years, the Soudal Open was missing from the DP World Tour’s schedule and made a return in 2018.

Since then, the prize money for the event has seen a gradual increase. Last year, the DP World Tour offered $2 million for the Soudal Open field. But in the 2024 season, it has been increased by $250,000, making it $2.25 million. Out of the million-dollar prize purse, the winner will take home $382,500, whereas the runner-up will get $247,500.

The winner of the Soudal Open will also receive 3,000 Race to Dubai points and 105.73868 Official World Golf Rankings points. Comparatively, the prize money at the Soudal Open is substantially less than what is being offered on the PGA Tour at the Charles Schwab Challenge. There, the winner will take home $1.638 million from the $9.1 million total prize purse.

What’s more at stake at the Soudal Open?

Starting the season with the Opening Swing, the DP World Tour introduced a new ranking other than the Race to Dubai Standing. After every swing, a Swing Ranking will be put out. Previously, Min Woo Lee, Rory McIlroy, and Sebastian Söderberg triumphed in the Opening Swing, Asian Swing, and International Swing, respectively.

Following this, whoever performs consistently and wins more events out of the six events in European Swing will lead the Swing Rankings and will take home an additional $200,000. The Soudal Open is the perfect chance for golfers to recharge and restart the run on the rankings. The leader will also be eligible to play the elevated Scottish Genesis Open and all of the ‘Back 9’ events.

As apparent, the DP World Tour golfers have many things to chase as the European Swing commences but only one will be crowned the champion and surpass the others in the field.
