After the conclusion of the first two rounds, the 2024 edition of the Rocket Mortgage Classic is now headed toward the third round. Some of the names, including the likes of Tom Kim, Robert McIntyre, and Webb Simpson, surprisingly couldn’t even make the cut line that was decided at 140 strokes.

In the last PGA Tour signature event (the Travelers Championship), Tom Kim was defeated by world number one Scottie Scheffler in the playoff. After such an outstanding performance, not being able to clear the cut in the very next event must have been hard for the South Koran golfer. But the show must go on. With this, let’s explore the tee times and pairings for the third round of the tournament.

Just like the previous two rounds, the Saturday round is supposed to take place at tee 1 and tee 10 simultaneously. With Akshay Bhatia and Aaron Rai leading the charge together with a score of 13-under 131 and Taylor Montgomery just behind them by two strokes, the trio will be the last to tee at 1:00 PM ET. In a tweet by PGA Tour Communication, the full schedule for the tee times and pairings for the round has been shared.

The 2024 American Express winner, Nick Dunlap, is paired with Dylan Wu and Will Zalatoris. Even though Zalatoris is currently T26 after the second round, the 27-year-old maintains a positive attitude, mainly focusing on his health, which has been precarious since 2022. He also shared a quick recap of his 2024 season so far after the second round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, stating,

“It’s been a grind this year, to put it mildly, coming back from surgery, trying to integrate the changes, and I feel like I put one round together and then maybe kind of don’t have it another day.” In the final two rounds, Zalatoris will face the likes of Bhatia, Rai, and Montogomery, as all will be competing for the handsome prize money.

What will be the prize money for the golfers in the Rocket Mortgage Classic?

The field of 156 players that started competing for a huge purse of $9.2 million is now reduced to a mere 75 golfers. The winner’s share of this fat purse will be a whopping 18% ($1.656 million). Well, the runner-up is also supposed to get an amount of over a million dollars; to be more specific, the amount will be $1,002,800 at a huge 10.9%.

Everyone knows that ties are pretty common in the game of golf. If there is a two-way tie for the runner-up position, the two runner-ups will get $818,800 each. Moreover, there can be more than two people who tie for the same spot and detailed information regarding the same is shared by the PGA Tour on its official website.

With this, do you think that Akshay Bhatia will be able to clinch the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic trophy and add another victory to his PGA Tour wins?
