Are the 2024 Presidents Cup Friday foursomes the most exciting matchups we've seen in years?

The opening round of the 2024 Presidents Cup has successfully concluded. Once again, Team USA has proved its dominance at the event by leading after the first session. This marks the seventh of their last eight appearances that the team has taken a lead after the first round and 10 of the overall 14 editions. Well, this time was a rather massive difference, and pretty much difficult for the International team to overcome.

The Americans scored a 5-0 at the Thursday four-ball session at the Royal Montreal Golf Club. After the snake draw, Jim Furyk made the first pick on Thursday night, and Mike Weir got the second and third picks to choose the pairings until the five matches were completed.

The second round of the 2024 Presidents Cup is scheduled to begin on Friday from 1:05 pm ET. Two players from the American team will be paired up together to compete against a group of two from the International team. The field will be opened by Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele (USA) against Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im (International).

All five groups of pairings will begin from the front nine and will have a total time of fourteen minutes to tee off. If things go as per the schedule, and Mother Nature does not end up interrupting, the last teeing will begin at 2:01 pm. It includes Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley (USA) against Si Woo Kim and Byeong Hun An (International). Here’s what the final field will look like on Friday:

According to the AccuWeather reports, Friday’s weather will have ‘low clouds followed by some sun’. The temperature will go as high as 22 degrees, and as low as 11 degrees. There is only a 2% probability of drizzling rain, and a 0% chance of any thunderstorm hitting the course. However, as per predictions, gusty winds are supposed to blow in at a speed of 26 km/h.

While this might be one of the causes that might trouble the players, there is a greater concern. Cloud cover is predicted to be 70%, which might render a hindrance to visibility for the players. Do you think just like the opening round, the players will be saved on Friday as well? Stay tuned to find out!
