The PGA Championship field has been cut exactly in half to leave only 78 players in Valhalla. After the 36-hole cutline of 1 under, many high-profile players like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Wyndham Clark left Louisville town two rounds early.

Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa are the two 54-hole leaders. Both golfers sit at 15 under 198 after three rounds and as the tradition goes, both golfers will start the final later than everybody else. The round would start at 7:45 a.m., while the two T1 position holders’ tee time is scheduled at 2:35 p.m. Following them is the only third player, one stroke behind, Sahith Theegala.

The young pro has been paired with Shane Lowry, who is T4. The duo would start 10 minutes before Schauffele and Morikawa at 2:25 p.m. Players like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler would start the final round at 12:45 and 12:15 p.m., respectively.

Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa

The final day of the PGA Championship would be one of the toughest, as many players are just a few strokes from taking the lead away from Schauffele and Morikawa. With many competitors at once, World No. 3 would want to capitalize on the final day and not lose as the last time.

Will Xander Schauffele capitalize on his 54-hole lead?

Before coming to Louisville, Xander Schauffele was at the Wells Fargo Championship and then too, he was the 54-hole leader. However, in the final round, Rory McIlroy zoomed past him to win the Wells Fargo Championship for the fourth time. Moreover, in the last 12 major championships, Schauffele has been consistently in the top 10 but has yet to grab a win.

It’s been nearly two years since Schauffele lifted a trophy, his last victory on the PGA Tour was in the summer of 2022 at the Genesis Scottish Open. Sunday will mark the fifth time where Schauffele will be a part of the final group in the 2024 season. Now the question that arises is: Will Schauffele finally break his winless streak? The odds are against him, but with perseverance, the third-best golfer in the world may just take the Wanamaker Trophy home!
