As 69 top players of the PGA Tour play at the Harbour Town Golf Links, another set of 132 have also teed up at the Corales Puntacana Championship. This field is filled with many lower-ranked and unrecognized talents who will have a chance to get their maiden victory on the PGA Tour with added benefits.
The prize purse for the field playing at the Puntacana Resort and Club’s Coral Golf Club might not be that hefty as compared to the $20 million pool compared to the RBC Heritage played at Hilton Head Island. But it has nonetheless been elevated, nonetheless. By the end of round four on Sunday, only one will take the thousands of dollars home!

Last year, Matt Wallace gave Nicolai Hojgaard a run for his game and eventually defeated him by two strokes. Currently, at the Corales Golf Club, neither the last-year champion nor the runner-up will be there on Sunday to enjoy the increased prize purse.
Wallace didn’t participate and the Dane pro missed the 4 under cutline. So, amiss was the opportunity to grab the $720,000 payout of the winner of the Corales Puntacana Championship from the $4 million total prize money. Interestingly, it was elevated by $200,000 from last year’s $3.8 million.
Fun fact: The prize money for the Corales Puntacana Championship is also only $400,000 less than what the winner of RBC Heritage will be getting, which is $3.6 million.

The solo leader after the end of the moving day at the Corales Golf Club is Wesley Bryan, as he shot a round of 2 under 70 to hold his lead at the Corales Puntacana Championship. Bryan has only one victory so far in his career on the PGA Tour. The 32-year-old won the 2017 RBC Heritage.
So at Corales, winning feels like shooting two birds with one stone. First, he will be getting his redemption as he missed the 2024 RBC Heritage and second, he will win after seven years since his last victory, if he continues to play well. To Bryan, the win doesn’t hold as much grandeur rather the performance he has pulled through. He expressed, “First, last, doesn’t matter, it’s been a heck of a week so far.”

Taking this victory might not be as easy because many, like Kevin Tway, the solo second, are following in a similar pursuit of breaking a winless drought or like Taylor Pendrith and Justin Lower; both T3, are waiting to taste a maiden win. It shall be seen who will come out victorious at the Corales Puntacana Championship.
