The BMW PGA Championship is set to take place at Wentworth Golf Club, England, this weekend and promises a display of great golf with big names like Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy involved. As McIlroy hunts for his third win this year after narrowly missing out last week, let’s take a look at whether the weather will play a part.
Located in the southeast of England, quite near London, the climate of Virginia Water, Surrey, is cool and sunny in the summer and becomes cold and windy in the winter. In the fall, as it is now, the temperature can reach a high of 20 degrees Celsius and drop to around 9 degrees. It typically rains for 7 days in September, and some of it could occur this weekend.
From Thursday to Friday, as the tournament begins, the weather forecast suggests low clouds will dissipate in the morning, giving way to a sunny, warm day—perfect conditions for golf. This will continue on Friday, with mist developing in the morning, dissipating, and clearing the sky for sunshine throughout the day.

Saturday, however, will be cloudy, with chances of rain developing as showers move up from the south. Thunderstorms are also highly possible. Sunday is forecasted to be a day of thunderstorms, with a collection of clouds bringing prolonged rain. This could, unfortunately, be intense enough to stop play. However, there is a chance the rain could occur at night, allowing the golf to continue.

It also hosted the Curtis Cup in 1932 and the first televised golf tournament in 1952. The first Ryder Cup was then held in 1953.
