The Chubb Classic is back in Naples! Last year, the weather had turned stormy, forcing the tournament to 36 holes. But this time looks mostly sunny with temperatures around 80°F,  and lows in the mid-60s during the games. Additionally, the tournament will feature 54 holes from Friday to Sunday, which sounds promising so far. Now, let’s take a quick look back at the winners.

Stephen Ames claimed the trophy and took home $270,000 from a $1.8 million purse. Paul Broadhurst, Mark Hensby, Ernie Els and Alex Cejka wound up tied for third place at 9-under, each earning $99,000. Sounds good so far. While there was no cut on PGA Tour Champions-run events, the earnings of Ames and others earned were converted into Charles Schwab Cup points, with each dollar converted into two points during the playoffs.

With the Chubb Classic back in action, the question arises: how much is at stake this year? The answer is the same as last year: a total purse of $1.8 million. The tournament will feature a 78-player field, including notable golfers like Bernhard Langer, Fred Couples, and Ernie Els, along with seven past champions, like Stephen Ames, and Joe Durant. Just as last year, the winner will receive $270,000, while the player finishing in 78th place will pocket $900. Now, let’s take a closer look at the complete breakdown of the purse.

Well, now that you know how much the winner will take home, let’s also see who may triumph at this year’s Chubb Classic.

Bernhard Langer is looking for a win at the 2025 Chubb Classic

While it is true that Stephen Ames took last year’s trophy home, we should not forget the King of Chubb Classic: Bernhard Langer! In the 38-year-old history of the Chubb Classic, Langer has won the tournament five times. Unfortunately, the 67-year-old missed last year’s tournament after suffering from an Achilles injury. After making a return to the course, however, he registered a win at the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Consequently, it was his 47th all-time Champions victory. Undoubtedly, Langer will be looking for a win this year.

Can Bernhard Langer reclaim his Chubb Classic throne, or will Stephen Ames defend his title?

Have an interesting take?

While our keen eyes will be on Bernhard, let’s not forget World Golf Hall-of-Famer Ernie Els. Els has registered 79 professional wins in his career, including 7 Champions victories. At 55, Els registered his first victory in the 2025 season after winning the Mitsubishi Electric Championship. Looks like Bernhard has a tough competition!

Likewise, Ames doesn’t need an introduction. In 2024, besides registering a win at the Chubb Classic, he earned two additional Champions Tour victories at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic and Boeing Classic. Overall, he has registered a total of 20 professional wins. Once again, Ames is another tough competition Bernhard should keep an eye on.
