The most prestigious tournament, the Ryder Cup, which is to take place in the month of September is a dream come true for any player. And with the selection process ongoing, everyone is trying to look good on their golf records. Now the two-time major winner Justin Thomas is no different from the others. But his quite slumping career since the 2022 PGA Championship and not being able to make the cut in the Open Championship, might come as a doom to his Ryder Cup chances.

Now the question arises if he is trying hard enough to make the Ryder Cup team this year. And to this, Thomas made a bold comment in an interview!

This loyal and hard-working Ryder Cup contender had been a persistent good performer. He had been a stalwart in the last two Ryder Cups and a prime combo with Jordan Spieth. He had a record of 6-2-1 in his two Ryder Cups. But currently, this year his 11-over par, making his score 82, not only failed him at the British Open but also resulted in dragging him downwards in his career graph.

Despite all these setbacks, his long-time friend Dustin Johnson is still hoping that he would make it into the game, regardless of his current form and he is wishing that Thomas will make a comeback.

Even in a recent interview, Justin spoke that he has been trying way out of his league to make it to the game. And get selected for Zach’s team,Yeah, obviously. I want to make the Ryder Cup more than anything. I am probably, honestly, trying too hard to do it.Hence, Thomas is planning to get his grip strong so that it becomes easier for him to qualify for the US team.

To this day, Thomas is one of the biggest stars of the US team in the Ryder Cup. He has a score of 6-2-1 in his last two Ryder Cups and the best record of any American golfer to play in at least two. Besides that the former world no. 1 has won two majors, i.e. the PGA Championship 2017 and PGA Championship 2022. He also secured the 4th position in the 2020 Masters Championship and 8th position in the 2020 US Open. Even in the 2019 Open Championship, he finished at T11.
