As you might expect, Kai Trump played a lot of golf with her famous grandfather. So much so that when YouTube golfer Grant Horvat asked her to pick a favorite moment, she had to think for a bit. And then admit that there are lots.

Kai was playing with Horvat at Trump Jupiter Golf Club. Asked about her most memorable moment with Donald Trump, the 17-year-old picked the time she first saw her grandfather after he was shot. But the question was strictly about golf. So, she had to shift through memories, and there came the hilarious banter story.

Not too long ago, Kai was teeing off not with but against the former POTUS. Spoiler here: She did beat Donald Trump, teaming up with a friend. But the 45th President was happy. Here is what happened. Kai was standing in front of a clutch 8-footer. Kai recalled while chatting with Horvat, “One time… I was not on his team. And I have to make like, this… like… 8ft. Birdie putt to win. He was trying to get in my head, and he was like standing over me, and right next to me whatever.”

Trump was actually testing his eldest granddaughter. Can she keep her cool? If you have seen Bryson DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ with Donald Trump clip, you can understand how close the 78-year-old stands to his playing mates or his competitors. Trump was only inches away from the reigning U.S. Open champion during clutch moments, peering over like a hawk gazing at his prey.

No wonder; he was the same with his granddaughter as well. After all, she was his competitor that day. But Trump was more than happy that Kai cut the mustard. She nailed a birdie putt, and Trump couldn’t hide the smile of a proud grandfather. “I sunk and I went like this (fist pump), and that was like the best moment. He starts smiling. And he was so happy.”

Kai Trump on joining politics: ‘Stay out of that’

So, is your goal right now to play pro golf one day on the LPGA?” Horvat asked Kai Trump to point blank. It took less than a second for Kai to answer. “Yes,” she said with a broad smile. Horvat, like the audience, was perhaps expecting a different answer. He probed further. “So, you’re not really big into politics; you’re just kind of focusing on that?”

“No,” the 17-year-old said without any hesitation. “I stay out of that and just focus on golf.” She is, in fact, quite a formidable golfer. She can crush 260-yard drives. Her skills are well utilized on the course as well. Kai Trump is the Varsity Captain at the Benjamin School, the same school that Charlie Woods attends.

Per the Daily Mail, Kai Trump has also won the Ladies’ Club Championship at the Trump International Golf Club. The LPGA Tour has a long road ahead of it. But she is on the right track.
