Currently ranked 67th, Jordan Spieth has been peaking in and out of the greens for a while now. Take the issue with his wrist. The star golfer sustained a wrist injury in 2023, which got worse in 2024. Unsurprisingly, it resulted in an easily forgettable 2024 season for the American golfer. Case on point? He missed the cut seven times in 2024 and ranked the highest (3) at the Sentry early that year. He easily termed it as the most frustrating season.

This year, Jordan Spieth made his first 2025 season appearance at AT&T Pebble Beach after he went through wrist surgery in late August. Unfortunately, this return was unsuccessful and he finished at T69. He seemed to make some progress in the Phoenix Open, where he tied with Christiaan Bezuidenhout at T4. Unfortunately, he missed the Genesis cut.

We can’t wait to see him peak this season, but the golfer is worried. His frustration with the current form was quite palpable during a talk with Smylie Kaufman on The Smylie Show. In the discussion, Kaufman asked him about the difficulty of making a return this season.

Jordan, in a somber tone, responded, “… for me the Friday night into Saturday was harder than Saturday night into Sunday, because you know Saturday is gonna be the craziest day…. And I knew I did not have my best stuff, like I am working on things pretty brain-on. When the guys I am playing against are not as brain-on. They’re able to… they’re not quite at Scottie’s level, where he’s doing the same thing he’s been doing…” Clearly, Jordan Spieth felt a mix of self-awareness and vulnerability discussing this issue and being outperformed by competitors like Scottie Scheffler.

Scottie Scheffler, for his part, is doing a little better than Jordan. He finished T9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He then secured a T25 at the WM Phoenix Open and a T3 at The Genesis Invitational. Then, Jordan mentioned how a lack of recent experience at the greens bothered him. “For the most part no one is sitting in the same position as I was in as far as how, uh, limited experience at that point of time. Then how much they have to be brain-on mechanics. So that was what was really bothering me.

Jordan last played at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last August, after which he underwent wrist surgery. By the time he joined the AT&T event this year, it had been a long time. He knows he has to focus on the swing and mechanics more than the other guys, and that’s putting him at a serious disadvantage. Though its a bummer, Jordan has a good thing to look forward to of course!

Jordan Spieth gives a major life update

During the same interview with Smylie Kaufman, Jordan Spieth shared another brilliant news: his wife, Annie, and he are expecting a new member into their family. “We have a third coming in July, so it’s busy. My son turned three in November, so we had his birthday and stuff… my daughter turned one in September, so we had her birthday right after we got home from Colorado after I had my surgery.” Interestingly, his family was present for him earlier this month at the WM Phoenix Open. So, fans should rest assured that Jordan Spieth is in safe hands during his recovery time.

While the 31-year-old golfer seems hopeful about the 2025 season, his immediate schedule remains uncertain. Spieth has confirmed he will not participate in the Mexico Championship this week and is yet to decide on the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens. Fans are curious, though: will Jordan Spieth join TGL the next time?

Spieth’s reply to this question was cheeky. The golfer told Kaufman that “it isn’t really a great time,” as he can’t be away from his family for too long. On that note, what do you think of his current state in the golfing world?
