Greg Norman has been happy and disappointed since the LIV golf invitational series was over last week. The tour wrapped up its inaugural event at Miami’s Trump National Doral Golf Club. The players are happy and have registered many wins under their names. Dustin Johnson, the captain of 4 Aces, celebrated his team’s victory and took prize money of millions home. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund will finance the new circuit, and the two-time Open Championship winner will front it. He has plans to expand the course to a 14-tournament league in 2023. Despite all the big plans for next year, Norman was unsatisfied after the wrap-up. Let’s find out what happened.
Why was Greg Norman upset after the success of the LIV golf event?
Norman attended a video conference with ESPN and other media outlets on Tuesday. They asked the commissioner of LIV about his challenges during the inaugural season of LIV Golf. Wrapping his answer in just one word, he said, “disappointment.” And it was visible on his face, too. PGA Tour and DP World tour has been very disappointing for Norman.
He pointed out that numerous efforts were made from his side personally to approach PGA and explain to them about LIV. Norman said, “I do know the approaches that were made by myself personally and others to try to explain what LIV is all about.” He wanted to create an ecosystem where both tours could co-exist peacefully. Despite many attempts, the PGA denied the meetings. The models of both tours are entirely different; however, PGA was picking up things from LIV and implementing them in their tour.

Norman added that LIV’s business model was designed for existing in a peaceful system. It was very different from the business models of others trying to kill off LIV. However, his focus was to make the players happy and fulfilled. They have been playing for years, and there is a legacy attached. LIV will do everything it can to work within the ecosystem without harm. He said, “We didn’t build our business model to do what others have tried to do — to kill us off. We wanted to work within the ecosystem. .”
When did Norman last approach PGA?
The Hall of Fame golfer made many attempts to create harmony with the PGA tour. The last effort he made was around mid-year with Jay Monahan. He added that the balls are in the court of the commissioner of the PGA Tour. The tour will have to decide what they want to do next, as LIV has already clarified their intentions.

According to Norman, he sat down with many eminent authorities discussing the tour, but the result was nil. He called the vitriol ill-feeling. Many players wanted to be part of the major PGA events and denying them is not good. He wants the players to have all the opportunities they can.
