Dusting themselves off and moving forward after a failure is an extremely hard thing to do for a person. Moreover, it is all the more hard for an athlete like Charley Hull, who lost the winner’s prize money of $300,000 in the closing stages in Cincinnati on Sunday.
The unfortunate finish came as a shock for the golf community and the LPGA star as she finished second. But what’s surprising is that the 27-year-old took it in her stride and moved on from the disappointment. She revealed an interesting yet humorous thought — the belief of a perfectionist!

The Kroger Queen City Championship saw the English professional score a 16-under 272 which led her to tie with Minjee Lee. The subsequent playoff holes led to the latter emerging victorious on the second hole as the first one ended in a par for both the golfers. This pushed Hull to the second position, taking home a cut of $181,723.
In an Instagram post shared a little while ago, the 2016 CME Group Tour Championship winner pointed out amusingly how she has been “perfecting the 2nd place finish this season”. The LPGA Tour pro had an unfortunate year of sorts with a total of ten top-10 finishes in the 2022-23, including five runner-up positions.
Nevertheless, Hull kept her head high while mentioning how she is currently feeling, that she is “trending in the right direction”. Moreover, the golfer made sure to congratulate the champ and express her gratitude for the championship as she geared up to return to Europe for the Solheim Cup set to start on September 22.

Bringing her focus to the prestigious tournament, Hull mentioned how great a skipper the Norwegian golfer actually is. Moreover, the English pro even went ahead to term her as one of her “favorite players ever to play the game”.

The recent loss to the Australian counterpart must have been a hit for the runner-up but she has nevertheless dished out a wonderful performance in the championship. Well, one can only hope that the golfer can get rid of the unlucky streak and take a win the next time she gets onto the greens.
