What’s the PGA Tour’s next stop? Well, after a long and enthralling weekend at Pinehurst No. 2, the Tour is now headed to Cromwell, Connecticut. Its legacy-bearing Travelers Championship is all set to kick-start at the picturesque TPC River Highlands course. A lot is at stake at this long-going venue, the most costly of which is the massive $20,000,000 prize purse that is up for grabs in Connecticut this weekend.

Known for its long-lasting collaboration with the event formerly known as the Greater Hartford Open, TPC River Highlands has been the host course for the Travelers Championship since 1984. This 6,841 yards par-70 course was skillfully redesigned by Pete Dye in 1982, followed by a second renovation by Bobby Weed in 1989. The rather demanding course elicits the use of heavy precision shots to ace Golf Digest’s famous ‘One of the Top 10 Golf Courses in the State‘ and the ‘Best Private Course in the State.

Spread over a glistening 148 acres, the TPC River Highlands’ award-winning golf course is further beautified by picturesque lakes and ponds in its periphery. The Connecticut-based course was first called the Middletown Golf Club in 1928 and then the Edgewood Country Club, before it got its current name and ongoing success.

The course’s most exciting hole is the par-4 15th, spread over 296 yards. It elicits players to put their best foot forward. Nature surrounds this par-4 hole in both its sides, with a dramatic water body on the left end, and sand on the right end of the green. Delivering on the course offer of hosting “four of the most exciting finishing holes in a group anywhere in the world,” some other exciting featured holes include the Par 3 171 Yards Hole 16th, the intimidating Par 4, 433 yards Hole 17th, and finally the absolute perfection laced Par 4 444 Yards 18th hole.
