Scottie Scheffler is showing the world why he is World No. 1. After another day of incredible golf at East Lake, which was briefly halted for a rain delay, Scheffler continued his reign at the top of the leaderboard, scoring 5 under par. This extended his lead to four strokes. He will be starting at 2 PM EST on Saturday.
Collin Morikawa also continued his surge with an astounding 9 birdies on Friday. He sits second at 17 under. He and World No. 2 Xander Shauffele, who is third on the leaderboard, have made things interesting at the Tour Championship. Schauffele played a very good second round and reached 7 under par after his 70 in the first round.

In the last two years, Scottie Scheffler was the No. 1 seed to win the FedEx Cup. 2022 was a brilliant breakthrough year for Scheffler, who won 4 Tour events, including The Masters. In 2023, he seemed to dip slightly but still had a good year, becoming the best in golf and winning the Players Championship. However, despite having great years, he still lost the FedEx Cup to Viktor Hovland and Rory McIlroy.

His criticism of the PGA Tour format may stem from his disappointment in being the best player in the world but not winning the Championship which signifies you have been the best player that year.
But this year is different. This year, he has dominated the PGA Tour with 6 wins, including becoming a two-time Masters winner, winning the Players Championship, and winning gold in the Olympics. This year, sitting at the top of the leaderboard with a significant lead, he has the chance to win the FedEx Cup and break the hoodoo of the past two years.
