A jar of possibilities has opened up in the golf market. The aftermath of Nike and Tiger Woods’s amicable end has drawn the golf world’s attention to every business move that Nike is making. One such move is increasing its closeness to the LIV Golf League, and that too in stunning fashion.

What started as a growing relationship with Brooks Koepka and his team, Smash GC, is feared to have a butterfly effect on the future of the golf world. The growing support and acceptance for the once-hated LIV Golf among the golf greats is becoming widespread in the golf world and now Nike has also given a boost to the PIF-backed endeavor. But how?

What are the three ways Nike’s budding relationship with LIV Golf will cause a ripple effect?

Nike is a trendsetter at its core. With the “Just do it” motto in their hearts and billions of dollars in their pockets, what Nike wants, they can get. Lately, it seems that their focus has shifted to LIV Golf from the PGA Tour. If all that is suspected come true, this might lead to a growing popularity for LIV Golf in the golf market. But how can we be so sure?

Well, here are three reasons why:

1. It will open the floodgates for more sponsors.

Nike’s name holds value. Their investment and growing interest in LIV Golf is expected to start a spiral of even more big names from the sports market to make the timely decision to move towards LIV Golf.

LIV Golf has only grown when it comes to sponsorship deals since the year of its inception. Adding to the likes of companies like Extracurricular, Redvanly, Seamless Digital, and crypto exchange OKX, among others, Nike’s LIV-ward move might lead to even more brands sponsoring the league, three years after its inception.

2. The rumors of Nike Golf investing in Smash GC may come true.

Only days after the highly publicized breakup of Nike and Tiger Woods, it was revealed by Brooks Koepka on his Twitter account that he is still “smashing into 2024,” with a picture of shoes with ‘Smash’ written on them. Nike was also tagged in the post, making it somewhat of a public announcement between the two.

As things seem to be moving, it is estimated that rumors of Nike potentially becoming a major investor in the Koepka-led team might translate into reality. It was earlier suspected that such a buyout of Smash GC might go up in the billion-dollar figures and potentially lead to a change in the team’s name.

3. Brooks Koepka can become the face of Nike, similar to the 27-year-long Nike-Woods partnership.

Their choice to make the promising next superstar a close ally has given rise to suspicions that the 5x major champion might be the next Tiger Woods.

And rightfully so, his recent performance and drive to rise back from the ashes every time make him an ideal choice, something Nike is known to make. Thus, one of the most consistent players on LIV Golf and the first LIV Golf pro to win a major, Brooks Koepka, can become the face of Nike, just like Woods did in the olden times.
