The Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-partnered innovative league was slated to be inaugurated in January 2024. However, due to the collapse of the SoFi centers’ air-inflated dome in Palm Beach, the league got delayed to January 2025. Recently, TGL posted a bunch of updates about the league being played on Monday and Tuesday (previously only Monday) while introducing the format and rules.

There are multiple new concepts being introduced, and there is a roster change, too. From the 24-man roster in 2023, TGL now has only 22 players. Why? Before moving to LIV Golf, Jon Rahm withdrew from the league, and later, in 2024, Tyrrell Hatton also joined his European brother in the breakaway league. TGL now needs two players to complete its roster. Who might those players be? We have our picks!

Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton’s sudden move to LIV Golf might have stung Tiger Woods for a long time. But coming to replace them are the 2022 Masters winner, the 2023 Open Championship winner, and the 3-time major winner from the top-class roster of PGA Tour pros!

1. Scottie Scheffler: The world number one has seen a scintillating run in the 2024 season so far. Scottie Scheffler has improved his putting as he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS Championship in consecutive weeks, showing that his form is getting better every day. On the other hand, TGL requires a player like Scheffler to replace Rahm, who has similar firepower.

Although Scheffler has shown his disinterest in the simulator league, may be because of trouble to travel to Florida that often, but an increase in the offer proposed by TMRW Sports may catch the 8-time PGA Tour winner to replace the reigning Masters champion. What else would be better than replacing one master’s winner with another?

2. Brian Harman: Harman had shown immense potential at the 50th PLAYERS Championship. The one-time major winner was one of the runner-ups and just one stroke behind the leader, Scheffler. Additionally, the 37-year-old might even complement the mic’d feature proposed at TGL.

As evident by his recent broadcasting attempts at TPC Sawgrass with Smylie Kaufmann, If Harman does join TGL by the end of the year, it will make the league have two of four major winners from the 2023 season, while the other two are on LIV Golf.

3. Jordan Spieth: Unquestionably, these days, Spieth’s game has not been working in his favor. The 13-time PGA Tour winner has missed back-to-back cuts. However, even then, the 30-year-old is the player with enough prowess to attract a larger audience whenever he plays. Notably, Spieth, if joining TGL, will be in the circle of his long-time friends, Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler.

Tiger Woods can get Spieth to join TGL because the two share notable similarities: both are part of the PGA Tour Enterprise board of directors, and both believe that the PGA Tour can stand tall without the support of PIF. With frequently being in the same rooms, Spieth might get convinced to join the league.
