The Saudi-backed league’s roster was always going to see fewer number of its golfers making it into Saturday, thanks to only 12 LIV Golf players who qualified for Augusta National this year, down from 13 last year. In 2024, the best LIV Golf performance came from Bryson DeChambeau (T6) and Cameron Smith (T6). We have yet to see how many will make it to the top 10 this year. The cut line is projected to be around +2, although it was +1 somewhere around noon ET. Some LIV golfers made it, but some of the LIV Golf roster does not seem to have performed that well at the ongoing Masters Tournament. And, on that note, let’s take a look at the LIV Golf pros who missed their chance at this year’s iconic Green Jacket.

Dustin Johnson

We know seeing the 2020 Masters champion’s name here is shocking. However, Dustin Johnson has been struggling on the greens for some time now, especially since Johnson hasn’t seen a top-5 finish in majors since his PGA Tour exit in 2022. And his performance at the 2025 Masters Tournament is a sign of that. In the first round, for instance, Johnson shot a shocking 74. You can credit much of this to the four bogeys on Flowering Peach (3), Flowering Crab Apple (4), Camellia (10), and Firethorn (15). His second round was 1-over and saw three bogeys and one double bogey. The result of this crash out? Dustin Johnson missed the cut for the 4th time in his career, the second since his win in 2020.

Cameron Smith

The Ripper GC captain, Cameron Smith, being here is certainly shocking. For instance, Smith has achieved top-10 finishes in five of the last seven Masters and has never missed the cut at Augusta National. In 2020, he finished as the runner-up with scores of 67-68-69-69, becoming the first player to shoot four rounds under 70 in a single tournament. But did he make the same at the ongoing Masters? The answer is: no. For the first round, Cameron Smith made a bogey on Magnolia (5) and finished with a score of 71. However, his second round was filled with bogeys and double bogeys. What went wrong? Only Cameron Smith can tell us!

Sergio Garica

The Fireballs GC member was doing it so well at Augusta National, certainly better than many of his peers. With only two bogeys on Juniper (6) and Carolina Cherry (9), Sergio Garcia made a score of 72 in the first round. However, the 2017 Masters champion did not seem to follow his promising gameplay in the next round. In fact, the Spanish golfer made 6 bogeys before finally missing the cut. His bogey holes included Tea Olive (1), Flowering Crab Apple (4), Juniper (6), Pampas (7), Carolina Cherry (9), and Golden Bell (12). His score? A staggering 76.

Brooks Koepka

Seeing Brooks Kopeka on this list is, undoubtedly, shocking. However, Koepka always has had close losses at Augusta National. For instance, Koepka has achieved top-seven finishes at Augusta National in three of the last six years, finishing as the runner-up in 2019 to Tiger Woods and in 2023 to Jon Rahm. So, what went wrong for him at the recent Masters? Well, quite a lot!

Koepka’s beginning at Augusta National itself was poor, thanks to the 7 bogeys in the first round. It began with Tea Olive (1), Magnolia (5), Pampas (7), and Carolina Cherry (9) on the front 9. Following them were Chinese Fir (14) and Nandina (17). His second round was filled with four bogeys and one double bogey on Holly (18). His total score in the second round was 74.

Phil Mickelson

Lefty came to Augusta with a refreshed mind. With a belief that the next major was just within reach. He had a game plan too, boldly claiming, “that’s how you win majors.” Came Augusta, and all of it went downhill. Augusta tested Mickelson brutally. He carded 75 on the first day, 74 on the second day, and ended up finishing 5-over. Result of it all? He missed the cut.

Regardless of their current form or past performances at Augusta National, these five names are certainly some of the least expected to see this fate at the 2025 Masters. However, let’s see how the rest of the LIV roster performs at Augusta National this year!
