Tiger Woods is ready to launch his much-awaited initiative of the new digital league TGL. Led by technology, the new league will bring a modern approach to golf where instead of playing on open courses, the top players will assemble to play in closed quarters with fans getting a spectacular view.

And to make this tour successful, Woods has left no stone unturned. He and Rory McIlroy, who co-owns the league, will be playing themselves. But apart from that they have armed themselves with the best players on the PGA Tour who will be looking to deliver great performances on this technology-laced tour as well. These players rank high in the OWGR ranking. Let’s check them out.

What gems have Tiger Woods collected for his new TGL League?

Jon Rahm — First on the list is Jon Rahm who is number 3 on the OWGR. The 28-year-old golfer, who turned pro in 2016, has added an astonishing number of laurels to his resume. He has acquired 22 pro wins, two of which are major tournaments. He has spent a record 60 weeks as the world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking. Rahm achieved that rank after he won the Memorial Tournament in July 2020. After that, he has been going up and down in the top ten.

Patrick Cantlay — Next on the list is world no 5 Patrick Cantlay. Though he hasn’t won any tournament this year, Cantlay continues to maintain his presence in the top ten in the ranking. His performance in the recently concluded Ryder Cup caught the eye. He has a total of 9 wins in his professional career with his last victory coming at the 2022 BMW Championship. This year at the FedEx St Jude Championship he lost to Lucas Glover in a playoff.

Xander Schauffele — Sitting at number 6 on the OWGR ranking is Xander Schauffele. He too has acquired no wins this season but is maintaining a good rank based on his top finishes this season. His performance at the Tour Championship and the BMW Championship was impressive. Woods counts on him to be a good performer in his TGL. He says, “From Olympic gold to the PGA TOUR to the Ryder Cup, Xander’s a big-time performer who consistently rises to the occasion.”

Matt Fitzpatrick — This has been quite the year for the world No. 7 Matt. He scored two wins this year. The RBC Heritage on the PGA Tour and the latest Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour which was a tough nut to crack owing to the bad weather and waterlogging on the course. Woods and McIlroy recognized the potential in the young golfer and quickly reserved him to play in their league.

Max Homa — Another big player to join the TGL is world number 8 Max Homa. He opened this year with a big win at the Farmers Insurance Open in January. Since then he has made many top-10 finishes in this season. He kept a good hold in the FED Ex Championship and finished in the top 10 ranks in all three play-offs.
