Can Charley Hull's newfound confidence at Riyadh finally break her two-year winless streak?

Since October 2022, Charley Hull has been winless on the LPGA Tour or Ladies European Tour. However, without context, it may seem that Hull’s form has declined. But the reality is that at least in the 2024 season, the Kettering native has tried her very best but a shoulder injury hurdled her way to the winner’s podium. In mid-season, Hull injured her shoulder after falling in the shower.

The 28-year-old thought that she tore a ligament or a bone; however, she instead got to know that she had arthritis. After the injury, Hull took a break to recover and rehabilitate. She returned to Le Golf National but struggled. Now, two months later, Hull shared how long it took for the injury to heal. In an interview with Sky Sports, the English pro said, “My injury is fine now. It took about a month to get over. I’m all good.”

Despite the injury, Hull felt that she had a pretty consistent and good season. The 3-time LET winner posted five top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour and six on the Ladies European Tour. As the 28-year-old enjoys her new relationship, who would probably have supported her during her recovery period as she said, “I just love being at home. I love being with my boyfriend. Hull is also trying to win in the remaining 2024 season. Yes, she has many top 10s, but a victory would always be different and better than all.

Charley Hull confirms her next event of the year

As the LPGA Tour will conclude its Fall Asian Swing in Japan with the TOTO Japan Classic, Charley Hull will be in another part of Asia for her event. The 28-year-old has committed to the 2024 Aramco Team Series event in Riyadh, where Alison Lee broke her winless curse in 2023. Hopefully, it will be the same for Hull too, as she is eyeing it as well.

And per the English pro, it may be easy to do so at the Riyadh Golf Club. Why? Hull described that the Riyadh Golf Club is easier than the other course she has played on the 2024 schedule. She said, “It’s a very scoreable golf course. It’s good for the confidence because you can make loads of birdies out there.” Last year, Hull made 17 birdies, 2 eagles, and only two bogeys in her three rounds at the Riyadh Golf Club.

However, even after three incredible rounds, Hull was 11 strokes behind the winner, Alison Lee, and finished solo third. But as she said, “I feel comfortable on this course, and I enjoy it here in Saudi Arabia,” this time, Hull’s confidence hints that she is in the mood to win.
