On November 14, Jay Monahan gave a shock to the PGA Tour players and the golf fraternity, after he released the memo in which he informed that Rory McIlroy has resigned from the post of PGA Tour Policy Board member.
As McIlroy himself released no statement, fans and the media quickly started pondering over the reasons. Today, Rory is in Dubai for the DP World Tour Championship, where he was questioned about his resignation by the media. Fans are not happy with his unconvincing reason, though.

McIlroy’s resignation has been a long time coming now. After Jay Monahan announced the shocking merger between both the rival leagues, it came as a shock for the Irish golfer. In the time when all big players were ditching the traditional league PGA Tour for big money at LIV Golf, McIlroy stood like a pillar for the PGA Tour. But in the end, he felt betrayed with the news of the merger.
Later, in a statement he said that he felt like a “sacrificial lamb”, badly played by the league. Hence he quietly submitted his papers and orchestrated it without any press upheaval. However, in Dubai he gave answers about his decision.
When asked what the thinking was behind his exit from the PGA Tour Policy Board, he answered, “Yeah, I just think I’ve got a lot going on in my life between my golf game, my family and my growing investment portfolio, my involvement in TGL, and I just felt like something had to give. I just didn’t feel like I could commit the time and the energy into doing that.” Sky Sports also released a video of his statement.

He continued, “I don’t mind being busy, but I just like being busy doing my own stuff. Something had to give and there are guys that are on that board that are spending a lot more time and a lot more energy on it than I am. It’s in good hands and I felt like it was the right time to step off.” However, fans are not very thrilled with his explanations.
