“[I’m seeing] better numbers with the spin.” admitted a content Tony Finau to GolfWRX when asked about the increased club head speed and ball speed that he managed to achieve over the year. Back in 2023, the golfer had averaged 118.3 mph and 178.08 mph when it came to the club head and ball speeds, respectively but was able to increase it to 123.93 mph and 183.32 mph by 2024. The reason? It’s all thanks to the change in gear he made.
Known as one of the longest players on the PGA Tour, the professional managed to decrease his overall distance by two yards while gaining better results with the spin. Finau did so by switching the shafts he uses for his driver from the Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited 70TX to the Mitsubishi Diamana GT 70TX, all the while without changing the club!

What clubs does Tony Finau use on the course?
Although the professional has not raked in any wins following his sixth victory on the circuit back in 2023 at the Mexico Open, it’s not as if he hasn’t been showcasing amazing skills on the greens. This was much evident at the Texas Children’s Houston Open that ended a while back, where he finished T2, courtesy of the set of equipment that complimented his talents.
When it comes to the driver, Finau uses the Ping G430 LST driver lofted at 9 degrees as well as 10.5 degrees to tee off the ball. The club, marked at $579.99, is coupled with the Mitsubishi Diamana GT 70TX that he bought to his bag after the T2 finish in Texas, and boasts impressive consistency while balancing the distance.
For Fairway Woods, the professional turns to the Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond T model attached to the Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited 80 TX shaft. The equipment is lofted at 14 degrees and costs $279.98 to buy. Funnily enough, the club which was originally designed for Jon Rahm seems to be a good fit for Finau.

The athlete also uses a utility iron, the Nike Vapor Fly Pro 3, equipped with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 105 Hybrid X shaft. That’s not all. He also has a set of Ping Blueprint irons for his 4-irons down to his pitching wedges at $212.5, offering a compact shape that helps in minimal offset while swinging.

The wedges and putters that Finau use
Finau was initially inclined towards Ping’s Glide 4.0 for both 50 and 56 degrees and the Titleist WedgeWorks Proto 2022 (60T) when it came to his wedges. However, he soon changed the former to a Ping S159 (50 degrees) costing $179.99, while keeping the same club (Ping’s Glide 4.0) for the 56 degrees and adding a Gabe Golf’s 6109 Milled (61 degrees) to the bag as well.
Finally, when it comes to his putters, the American professional turns to the Ping PLD Milled Anser 2D Custom Putter attached to the Garsen Golf Ultimate Grip. He uses the same to hole his Titleist Pro V1 Left Dot balls while sporting Custom Lamkin UTx midsize grips. Such impressive gear present in his bag, coupled with his insane skills, will surely help him rake in many more wins on the circuit.
