Tony Finau is ready to join LIV Golf, per some reports. Apparently, the 35-year-old is gearing up for a reunion with an old friend and fellow ex-PGA Tour Pro, Jon Rahm, in the latter’s Legion XIII. The rumor intensified after the six-time PGA Tour winner was swapped for Sepp Straka in Tiger Woods’s Hero World Challenge. Finau’s name wasn’t in the Sentry field as well, adding fuel to the fire. Now, Finau’s wife, Alayna, has a few things to say about that.

My life is complicated enough. The last thing I need is more drama,” lip-synced Alayna in a viral TikTok video. It’s a reference to the famous line of Miley Cyrus from the teen drama series Hannah Montana. In that episode, Jake Ryan stands up immediately and greets Miley. The latter exclaims in apparent frustration, “Hello, Drama.”

In the now-viral clip from Finau’s wife, she turns the back camera on. Lo and behold! It’s Tony Finau gesturing the shaka sign (hang loose) to his wife. On the screen is also a snapshot of an article about Finau’s LIV Golf rumor. Miley Cyrus’s last line, “Hello, Drama!” plays in the background.

The couple is apparently vacationing in the off-season. So far there hasn’t been any confirmation from either Finau or his team. The six-time PGA Tour winner has six top tens this season, including a runner-up finish in the Texas Children’s Houston Open and a T3 at the US Open. His last victory came at the 2022 Mexico Open. Strangely enough, the whispers of LIV Golf started around the same time last year. And like last year, Finau is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Weighing in on the possibility of Tony Finau joining LIV Golf

If you can recall, Finau was linked to LIV Golf a year back. The 35-year-old didn’t clear the air until his Grant Thornton appearance. Asked about the rumors, the six-time PGA Tour winner said, “I have nothing to say right now. I haven’t heard anything.” Later in a post, Finau confirmed he was staying with the PGA Tour. “I’m excited for 2024 and looking forward to playing my 10th season on the PGA Tour!

What’s your perspective on:

Could Tony Finau's switch to LIV Golf reignite his career or lead to more drama?

Have an interesting take?

It should be noted that Rahm and Finau are close friends. The Spaniard once said Tony Finau, if not the nicest guy on Tour, is certainly tied for number one. The American International has also showered praises on his Spanish counterpart. “Yeah, me and Rahmbo are both the course record holders at Silverleaf, 59. I played with Rahmbo when I shot 59. We’ve had some fun; he’s awesome,” Finau said in a recent appearance on Grant Horvat’s channel.

There is one spot open in Jon Rahm’s team. The two-time major champion hasn’t hidden his desire to sign new players as well. Will that new name be Tony Finau? We have to wait till the 35-year-old tees off at the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational.
