Finally! It has happened! At least one of the golfers who would attend the Saudi International golf event had finally spoken up. Tommy Fleetwood, an English golfer, has revealed why he and other players want to play at the event.

In the beginning, the Saudi event was a part of the DP World Tour. But now, with the funding of the Saudi government, it has become a flagship Asian League.

Although the PGA Tour restricted its players from attending the league, they finally granted permission to its thirty players. The PGA Tour doesn’t want its players to attend the Saudi International mostly because of the schedule similarities.

The Saudi International and some of the PGA Tour tournaments are scheduled in the same week, and if players go to Saudi, they cannot play for the Tour tournaments.

The previous year’s winner of the Saudi International is Dustin Johnson. Along with him, Phil Mickelson, Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, and Bryson DeChambeau are some of the 30 players who have asked permission to participate in the league.

Tommy continued, “There’s no secret that a lot of people are getting paid handsomely to go.” Since the Saudi government is investing a huge amount of money in the league, the players are attracted to go there.

While getting good payment is the first on the list, Tommy said the quality of the event is too high, with many high profiled players playing in it. He further added, “It’s going to be one of the highest world ranking events in the world of golf and you don’t want to miss out on that.”
