When Tom Kim and Scottie Scheffler faced each other on the Friday Fourball of the Presidents Cup, the intensity of the game was expected to rise. And it was indeed enthralling to see two best friends rivaling at the Royal Montreal Golf Club. The tension rose when Kim birdied the seventh hole and celebrated as he had won the entire match. But right after the world no. 1 gave it back and tied the hole, also sarcastically uttering to Kim, “What was that?” The banter didn’t stop there. Kim won the next hole, but Scheffler and his partner, Russell Henley, couldn’t.
And the South Korean pro got another chance to flex behind Scheffler. However, as the rivalry between the two got tensed, Kim and his comrade, Sungjae Im, were asked to walk on the 9th green by their assistant captain, Camilo Villegas, even before the American team finished their hole. This was deemed disrespectful and unprofessional by many. But it seemed to fizzle out the growing intensity. Now, weeks after, Scheffler shed some light on the entire incident at the SubPar podcast by GOLF. The hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz asked the world no. 1 about all the drama with Kim. Surprisingly, Scheffler explained that it was all normal and said it was “funny” playing against Kim.
Talking about their back and forth at the Presidents Cup, Scheffler further added that it was something he would do even when they play together at home, in Texas. When Kim bragged about his putt, Scheffler said, “I’m like, if he did that at home, I would have done the exact same thing… talking trash and saying hammer and whatnot, and then if I made on top of him, I would turn around and tell him, you know, be quiet. And so it was one of those deals where it’s, it’s kind of fun.” So, it was all normal for the Kim-Scheffler duo to keep pulling each other’s legs. And the 27-year-old even explained if it hadn’t been his friend, he wouldn’t have pulled out that fiery part of him either.

Now on to the part when the Korean pro walked behind and kind of mocked him, Scheffler revealed that he didn’t notice that or when they moved to the 9th tee. He added, “At the end of the day, I mean, I think it’s all in good fun. I enjoyed getting to play against my buddy.” And it was better because they eventually won 3&2 in the four-balls. But what was the hilarious fact?

Scottie Scheffler agrees that Tom Kim has been lying about this one thing
If you visit Tom Kim’s PGA Tour profile and check his bio, among all the personal stuff, you will also see his height. Usually, the PGA Tour also adds weight but that seems to be missing from Kim’s bio. But what takes the attention away is his 6-foot height. Interestingly, Kim has claimed his height to be 6 feet on the PGA Tour, which even the hosts were stunned about.
As his best friend, Scottie Scheffler was asked about the truth behind it. At first, all three of the men in the podcast laughed at the claim of the South Korean pro. Then, one of them said that he was adding four inches more to his height, so probably Kim is 5’8. But then Scheffler suggested that they should invite Kim on the podcast and bust that fact right there and then. However, he also came forward in support of his friend.

Scheffler said, “That’s fun. I mean, he’s able to list himself. Let him list himself” as a 6-foot pro. But the fun didn’t stop there, as even Brian Harman was dragged. They joked that next year, the 2023 Open winner may list himself as 6’1″ tall. Nonetheless, the golf world now knows that there was never a disrespectful moment between Kim and Scheffler at the Presidents Cup and their friendship still remains rock solid!
