Ahead of the Chevron Championship, golf enthusiasts had been highly anticipating the return of LPGA sensation Lexi Thompson. Her only other appearance in the 2023 LPGA Tour season came last month in the LPGA Drive-On Championship.
However, fans were left feeling extremely disappointed with her performance at Carlton Woods last week after the golfer’s impressive Chevron Championship run ended with her missing the cut for the first time in 14 starts. Days after her exit from the event, Thompson has now shared another dispiriting update on her Instagram. This comes a day after the LPGA star shared an optimistic update about her injured wrist.

Social media platforms can sometimes be a distressing cesspool, and LPGA’s Lexi Thompson isn’t immune to it. The 28-year-old’s outings in recent golfing events have been less than satisfactory, with her missing the cuts in two LPGA events this season.
She has also had her fair share of injury-related challenges, struggling with pain in her wrist in Houston last week. But Thompson will now want to return to good form as soon as possible, which is why she has made a major decision.
On Thursday, Thompson took to Instagram to share that she will be stepping away from Instagram for quite some time. In her Insta story, the golfer wrote, “Time to take a break from this social media page for a bit. I will continue to post but will be through my management team.”
Thompson also expressed her gratitude to loyal fans, clarifying her current goals. “Forever grateful for my genuine fans, love you guys! It’s time to focus on me for a bit and get ready for these three weeks in a row,” she shared. The World No. 7 is set to appear in the Aramco Team Series Florida, which will kick off on 19th May.
