Is Tiger Woods imitating Greg Norman? TGL is about to kick off its inaugural season in a few days. Fans are excited to see what’s in store for them in this unique format of the sport. The Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy venture has been slowly building up the anticipation of the fans by sharing snippets of what they can expect.
But there was one issue that everyone was concerned about, how they would be able to watch it. TGL was finding it difficult to secure broadcast partners initially. But that has all changed in the past few days. Now more fans around the globe will have access to all the action live.
As shared by Josh Carpenter on their X account, “@TGL signed with Sky Sports before the holidays and now has inked additional deals in China (Shinai Sports), Latin America (Claro), South Africa (Super Sport) and Southeast Asia (BeIN Sport). TGL now has distribution in 113 countries/territories.” This confirms that the event will be broadcast live on various platforms around the world.

This is similar to the kind of initiative LIV Golf had taken during its initial moments when it had managed to secure broadcast partners worldwide. Greg Norman was able to attract audiences from everywhere besides the USA, which can be presumed to be a lofty ambition considering the popularity of the sport in the country.
Perhaps Tiger Woods has not only taken the same stance but also pushed it one step further by partnering with American and Canadian broadcasters initially. Hence, fans didn’t shy away from criticizing Greg Norman for LIV Golf’s lackluster efforts after the Sky Sports deal was confirmed a few days ago.

Anticipation builds for Tiger Woods’s TGL
The unique approach Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy have taken to golf has caused a lot of buzz in the community. Fans from all around the world are excited when the arena lights up with exciting action. They have seen glimpses of the setup through the eyes of insiders and advertisements posted by TGL on their social media. Fans were pleased to see that every stroke will be played on a strict shot clock that is displayed right beside the simulation screen. This ensures pace of play won’t be an issue in the event; something even Jay Monahan was criticized for.

Furthermore, the moving greens and different scenarios have also been observed keenly by the community. Michelle Wie West shared a few videos of the arena where a player was seen walking on the dynamic green and fairway that really caught everyone’s imagination. Her “so excited” comment matched the enthusiasm of the fans who shared the same sentiment about what they were witnessing. It surely seems like TGL is en route to success even before the first ball has been driven.
For now, you can watch all the action live on ESPN, ESPN+, Sky Sports, Shinai Sports, Claro, Super Sport, or BeIN Sport from January 7, 2025, based on where you’re located.
