Making the cut for the twenty-fourth year in a row, Tiger Woods’ return to competition at the 2024 Masters was greatly anticipated. While Tiger Woods’ golf appears to be on the rise from hereon, the same cannot be said for his hairline.

Since winning the first major at just 21 years old at the 1997 Masters, the former world number one has seen a rather rapid decline in hair density. What could be the cause of this receding hairline? Stress? Multiple surgeries? or is it just classic male pattern baldness?

Woods has talked openly about his hair loss. The golfer had often joked about it in the past, and one time during the press conference, when asked about having less hair, he said, “I’m comfortable with it—my hairline’s not!” I have a nice skylight, and if I don’t wear a hat, I can feel the heat.” The golfer hinted that to avoid the direct heat on the head portion where there is hair thinning, he likes to wear a cap.

The golfer’s hair loss is just a classic male pattern baldness and not something genetic. He could have had a hair transplant to avoid it, but he hasn’t so far. Commenting on the transplant, he said, “I’m fighting it hard.” . “It’s a no-win fight, but I’m hanging in there.”

The receding hairline does not bother the golfer much, and he has made peace with his look. “I get it. I get it. We are not what we used to be; I get it. I’ve got my helipad up top, and I’m very happy with that. I get a hat on so I don’t get sunburned on the little center.” This paints the image of a man who is comfortable and is going to let his skills speak! After all, he is striving through the pain at the 2024 Masters too!
