Despite recent comments suggesting he has lost his passion for the game, Woods is out to demonstrate his dominance at Royal Troon. Curious about who made those comments? Following Woods’ lackluster performance throughout the 2024 season, where the 82-time PGA Tour winner missed the cut twice and finished T60, doubts about his gameplay were inevitable. However, only one person has voiced these concerns: 8-time European Tour winner Colin Montgomerie. In a recent interview with The Times, Montgomerie suggested that Woods had grown distant from the sport.

“I hope people remember Tiger as Tiger was—the passion and the charismatic aura around him. There is none of that now,” said  Montgomerie, addressing that Woods’ gameplay completely depends on whether he enjoys his shots or not. “At Pinehurst, he did not seem to enjoy a single shot, and you think, ‘What the hell is he doing?,’” he continued, recalling Woods’ poor performance at the U.S. Open where he missed the cut. 

Then came the final blow, “There is a time for all sportsmen to say goodbye, but it’s very difficult to tell Tiger it’s time to go”. Montgomerie believes it’s time for Woods to leave his legacy behind and bid farewell to the greens forever. However, the legend thinks otherwise.

Woods’ reply to this was as amazing as one could imagine. At a press conference for the 152nd Open, he said, “I’ll play as long as I can play, and I feel like I can still win the event,” reassuring his fans that he is not going anywhere anytime soon. To prove it, Woods is still enjoying his time on the greens! In a recent PGA Tour post on X, he is seen relishing every moment, surrounded by cheering fans.

Recently, he was seen having a great time during a Wednesday practice round with Tom Kim, as shown in a video posted by the PGA Tour on X. Both golfers displayed their incredible swings.

Fans in the post’s comment section were unabashed in expressing their love for the golfer. “Nice to see Tiger having fun with young talent,” said one user, addressing that both the golfers were seen sharing laughter and smiles throughout the practice round. Another user commented, “I love new tiger”, recalling Woods’ previous tournaments where he didn’t perform well. Everyone is excited to see what the new Woods has in store for the fans!

Another fan commented on Woods giving Kim valuable golf lessons, saying, “Love tiger the mentor”. In the video, when Kim squats down, Woods is seen talking to him, probably giving him golf tips. Some fans couldn’t resist taking a jab at Colin Montgomerie, joking, “Colin Montgomerie could never”–a lighthearted dig at the recent feud between the golfers. Another said, “Colin having fun too? Oh… wait.. 😆 🤣 😂“, addressing the golfer’s average performance throughout the 2024 season. Montgomerie’s previous performances included a T43 finish at the Senior PGA Championship, a T44 finish at the Bridgestone Senior Championship, and a dead-last finish of sixty at the Insperity Invitational.
