Is Jordan Spieth planning to join TGL in the future? Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy‘s league has been a major hit among the fans. The indoor simulation golf action at the SoFi Center has seen some enthralling action in the 9 matches that have been played so far. Having said that, it has still lacked the star power one would have expected Woods and McIlroy to bring in to make it more marketable.
The likes of Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Tony Finau, and Co. have chosen to skip the inaugural season of TGL. Another individual who is also missing at the arena is Jordan Spieth. He was still recovering from his surgery when TGL began. But in a recent interview, the 31-year-old confessed why he might not join the ranks in the future as well.
Spieth joined Smylie Kaufman on The Smylie Show for an exclusive interview. On the YouTube episode, Kaufman asked if the 3x major champ is gonna be in TGL soon. With a smirk on his face, Spieth replied that it “isn’t a great time right now” for him to join TGL as he can’t be away from his young kids back home in Dallas for too long. Later in the video, he had also revealed that he and his wife are expecting a baby as he said “we’ve got a third coming in July. So it’s busy, we’re busy”, as Kaufman cheered him on. Coming back to the original conversation, he explained that the hectic schedule doesn’t give him the flexibility to join Tiger Woods, Collin Morikawa, & Co. in Florida.

Spieth explained that most of the players participating in TGL live near the venue, which makes it convenient for them. Makes sense, since TGL kicks off just a day or two after PGA Tour events wrap up. But does that mean fans might never get to see Jordan Spieth play in the simulation golf tournament ever?

That might not be the case considering TGL’s plans for the future. We could also have a Euro team, meaning a new venue overseas. The goal? Global reach, more time zones, and bigger hype. Let’s dive into what’s more ahead.

Will TGL ever become more accessible for Jordan Spieth & Co.?
SoFi Center at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is TGL’s semi-digital coliseum. Of course, starting an indoor simulation golf league comes with its risks. Hence, Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy have chosen to host the event only out of one venue. However, as the popularity of the league is growing, reports have come in that TGL is planning to expand. The hosts of Fore Play Golf discussed the possibility of the league having more venues across the USA.

In fact, Sam Riggs Bozoian even stated “TGL golf league has actively explored expansion opportunities for new venues in Las Vegas, in Scottsdale, and in Southern California.” These locations might still not be close to Dallas, Texas. However, it is still promising for players who have geographical restrictions. Perhaps Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy might also consider other venues in the central and also on the East Coast.
With TGL also opening doors to LIV Golf players, the scope of expansion will only increase. Future seasons of TGL might feature Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and other top players. In fact, DeChambeau also stated that he is not ruling out participating in TGL when he was questioned the possibility of joining the league in the future by EssentiallySports journalist; Abantika Ghosh. Maybe Jordan Spieth might also get to play in a team named the “Dallas Shefflers” as he suggested in The Smylie Show segment.
